Robert S. Chatman joined Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1193, Lawton, OK in 2007 and served as Adjutant General before being elected Commander in April 2015 and reelected in 2016 for a second term. Robert transferred his membership in 2017 to post 8180 Songtan, South Korea and has been an active member in the post and community.

At the District level, VFW Department of Pacific Areas District 3 Korea, Robert was elected as Chaplain in April 2019 and reelected in 2020.

Robert joined the United States Army in 1977 and had multiple assignments including a deployment to the Middle East during Desert Shield/Storm before retiring in 2003. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC) as well as the usual complement of badges and ribbons with devices.

Since retiring from the Army, Robert has worked as a government employee for IMCOM supporting our Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees and contractors in the Republic of Korea and Fort Sill, OK.
