Commander-in-Chief Hal Roesch has laid down the challenge to all VFW Posts for the month of October 2020! For this month’s Commanders Challenge, the top Post in each Division with the highest increase in total membership percentage between October 1st and October 31st will receive a $1,000 stipend deposited into the Post account.
We need to spread the word, and we're asking friends like you to help out. The Voice of Democracy Program is open to students in grades 9-12 (Oct. 31 deadline), who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories. We want to reach as many patriotic students as possible to compete for the grand prize: $30,000 paid directly to the American college, university or vocational/technical school of their choice!
Many VFW Posts are unable to utilize traditional fundraising methods and are in dire need of aid due to COVID-19. To better assists our Posts, the VFW Foundation is introducing the VFW Post Pandemic Relief Grant (PPRG). This is an opportunity for VFW Posts that own or lease their buildings to receive up to $2,500 in support toward costs such as Mortgage/rent, utility bills and property taxes. Posts will need to meet certain requirements to be eligible to receive funding from this program. These criteria can be found on page one of the application, which you can download here. Applications for the VFW Foundation Post Pandemic Relief Grant will be accepted starting 01 Oct 2020
Although we emphasize Buddy Poppies on Veterans Day and Memorial Day, it is important to realize that the distribution of Buddy Poppies should be a year-round exercise. Each time a Post participates in an activity where the public will be present, Buddy Poppies should be present as a fundraising tool and simply to recognize our fallen comrades. Where the VFW appears, Buddy Poppies should be a constant reminder that we will never forget those who have perished in the name of liberty. Just as “They Gave, Will You?” is a year-round thing, so should the distribution of VFW Buddy Poppies.
VFW Service Officers are trained experts, helping veterans develop their case with ease by reviewing and applying current law, pertinent legislation, regulations and medical histories.
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!!
OUR MISSION: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. ...we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.
