James (Jim) E. Collins
District 7 Commander - Army

Sergeant Major (retired) James E. (Jim) Collins is the Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars District 7 (Philippines) and the Commander of Robert W. Zaher VFW Post 2485 in Angeles City, Philippines.  Jim was born on 19 August 1954 in Lowell, Mass, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1972.  Jim enlisted in the US Army in September 1974; retiring in October 2004 after 30 years of continuous military service at the rank of Sergeant Major.  His military significant assignments include 2 years with the 1/75th Infantry (Ranger), 4 years in Infantry assignments in Korea, and 24 years in US Army Special Forces assignments; predominantly with 1stSpecial Forces Group..  Jim is a graduate of the US Army Airborne School, Ranger School, Special Forces Qualification Course, and the US Army Sergeants Major Academy.  His numerous awards include the Legion Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and US Army Meritorious Service Medal (5th award).  While on active duty he earned a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of the State of New York in May 1990 and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma in May 1998.  Jim is now retired and lives in Angeles City, Philippines.
